I was given your email as a point of contact for the National Guard in NY. My name is David Rogers, I was with the NYARNG at the World Trade Center from Sept 11th to Oct 30th. One Sept 13th I was injured, and had done a LOD. I have been waiting for years for the National Guard to process this LOD. Always getting different stories about why it is not being done.
I am told that even though I was seen by National Guard doctors who found me unfit for service due to the injury, and for the injury, as well as by the VA that I have to see new doctors for the LOD. While I dont understand this reasoning, I am willing to see as many doctors as possible to get this done. However as to date, there is no answer.
I simple get an email or a call saying that they will call me with an appointment soon. And yet here I sit 11 years later and still nothing.
The National Guard seems to treat this like it is nothing, just another line of duty while performing service for the National Guard, but it is easy to say that when you sit behind a desk all day not having to live with the pain, both physically and mentally, reminding you of that day.
I understand that there is a lot going on, but I have been waiting 11 years to hear back on this. It would be nice to be able to get this over with and try to build my life back some.
